Teleportation is one of the most compelling technologies yet to be invented. Many people wish to be able to go across the world in a fraction of the time it currently takes. If teleportation was to become possible and practical in the near future the amount of places a person could go would dramatically increase.
Possible ways to teleport:
Copy, Model and Destroy the Original:
The possible ways to teleport are currently related to making a copy of the original subject to be transported and trying to recreate them. The problem with this model has to do with ethics. if we were going to copy and destroying the original human being that could arguably considered murder.
Possible problems with teleportation:
Before everyone starts applying to be the first person to go through a teleportation machine, it is important to understand the possible risks and problems with teleportation such as the possibility of not being returned or reassembled in the right way.
Interference
The reason interference would be important is because critical information could be changed or altered during transmission. Anyone who has turned on an AM radio knows that interferences can really change a significant or piece of information and some times that information is absolutely crucial to the thought or idea being communicated. The problem of interference is so important that a whole government agency was created in the United States (FCC) and many other countries. If interference were to occur when the diagram of one's heart or brain was being transferred to a new location, the results would be catastrophic.
High Energy Requirements
If teleportation is approached from the perspective of current science fiction writers, the body would need to be disassembled, a tremendous amount of information transmitted to another place, and have a copy made. This process would have to fight the chemical bonds within your body.
Is Teleportation still worth developing?
My opinion on whether teleportation should be developed is yes. Even if the transportation of people by teleporter is not viable, there is the less risky proposition of sending material goods such as tools and construction materials where defects would be more obvious. Although I would not advocate for the teleportation of certain goods such as medicines due to the necessity for a certain chemical structure to be maintained. Through attempts to develop teleportation new technology will arise that will benefit society as a whole. A great example, of setting tough goals that benefit society is NASA, an American agency, which explores space through technology and human exploration. NASA created many technologies and goods that benefit the public today that were made available to the public.
